Opposing and Confusing Words

Once a year the President must address to the people the true status of the nation.

But based on PGMA's SONA, although she have said the improvements of transportation in the Philippines because of her projects on imprastracture, and her programs on education, health and houses that she had said. As I have seen and heard, the topic that had been broaden more is how PGMA opposed her critics in CHA-CHA and in the legal drugs or medicines to be lowered the price.

For me, she would not have focused more her SONA by opposing her critics. Her critics have said that she had not done her job well to the people of the Philippines that no one will be sick because they can buy now the medicines that is prescripted or even the percentage of Filipinos that was poor year ago must decreased because of programs of President Arroyo on health, houses and etc., so that the people and even her critics will see that she had done her part bring the highest position in this nation. And also when I have seen Arroyo on stage, her dress catch up my eyes and maybe some of the people in that place have talked how much Arroyo spend for that gown. Also the SONA seemed like to be a fashion show because of the dresses that had been worn by the senators. As I have understand and heard on Arroyo's SONA, she have said some confusing lines " I will not extend myself, beyond my term" so this means that she will step down in her position but this line " I shall step down in this stage, but not in presidency" made me confused yet curious because she might run in another position in congress and what position would it be?

Butuan's First Mass

It's very an honor to us to know that the First Mass was celebrated in Butuan. And it is very a highlight to us Butuanon's to know that the first mass marks the entire century in Spanish text.

In the early records, according to the Spanish historians that published a historical writings that stated that the First Mass was held in Butuan particularly in Masao by Ferdinand Magellan in the Philippines Archipelago. Aside from the historical records, local historians strongly pointed out that the First Mass does not exist in Limasawa island. Because as described by Pigaffeta, the chronicler of Magellan in his writings that the place has no agricultural activities. There's an issue filling by Representative Charito B. Plaza at the House of Representative that the "House Bill No. 2550 which is An Act to declare the site in Masao, Butuan City as the place were the First Mass in th Philippines was held".

However, until now Limasawa in Leyte is claiming and recognized by the Philippine Historical Commision as the place were the First Mass was held, but lots of Butuanons and historians are not considering it.

" The Poblacion of Butuan through the century was transferred many times due to constant piratical raids" and "The town of Magallanes, Agusan del Norte was its formed site in 1860".

And this historical marker has also the site of the "Old Butuan Spanish Residents" and Butuanons believed the facts of the First Mass in Limasawa. When our beloved Pope John Paul II once visited the Philippines, he had said that he loves the churches in the Philippines. In his heart and prayers we have a special place. Filipino's before are very religious but as I can see now, some of us do not remember God in times of ups but when we are down that's the time we call Him and asking for help. Isn't it very unfair to Him? But so much for that, let me give you some of the famous priest that marked in our hearts and minds, one of them are Fr. Agustin de San Pedro, the militant recollect parish priest of Butuan, Fr. Saturnino C. Urios, the famous Jesuit Missionary and pastor of Butuan.

"The Limasawa marker in English was established only in 1950 (the older the text the better)".
